Neuropsychology
A neuropsychological assessment is an in-depth examination of your emotional functioning (sadness, anxiety) and cognitive abilities, such as attention, memory, language, visuospatial functions, and executive functions (adaptation to novelty, planning, etc.). It helps determine the presence of cognitive difficulties that may be related to a neurodevelopmental, acquired, neurodegenerative, or psychological condition. It also explores how your cognitive functioning integrates into your daily life (daily tasks, work, or studies) and how it aligns with your psychological functioning and environment. Based on your entire profile, personalized recommendations for your daily living can be explored and worked on.
- Suspected conditions or difficulties that may require a neuropsychological evaluation:
- Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity (ADHD);
- Cognitive issues related to substance use;
- Cognitive issues related to a medical event;
- Neurological disorders (stroke, traumatic brain injury, etc.);
- Neurodegenerative disorders (Alzheimer-type dementia, Parkinson-type dementia, etc.);
- Psychological difficulties (anxiety, depression, burnout, mental overload, etc.);
- Assessment of decision-making capacities.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a process aimed at better understanding of oneself and one’s relationship with himself, others, and the world, as well as your recurring difficulties and suffering. The psychodynamic approach emphasizes unresolved conflicts or ambivalence that may cause blockages and persistence of suffering despite the desire for change. It involves revisiting the personal history and establishing connections with the current life to highlight patterns, allowing emotions to emerge, and building an authentic and trusting relationship with the therapist, as this serves as a lever to explore what is felt and what is being repeated.
Sessions are usually held once a week, lasting 50 minutes. The total duration of psychotherapy depends on several factors, such as the nature of the difficulties and the goals pursued.
